Biomass

This platform analyses the quality, stability and biogas potential of biomass and associated by-products. Different types of organic residues are treated at the composting and anaerobic digestion pilot plant according to customized experimental designs; the plant is also used for teaching.

Pilot plant for composting and anaerobic digestion

The plant consists of a pilot reactor for wet anaerobic digestion (1.5 m3), a bioxidation area consisting of  an aerated tunnel or slab, and the compost maturation section.

Technologies  for the evaluation of odour impact

Static and dynamic hoods, vacuum pumps and electronic nose for air sampling and quantification of the odour impact caused by waste treatment plants.
