Firoznezhad Mohammad
I am an analytical chemist working on LC-MS/MS-based metabolomics in complex biological and food matrices. My current research focuses on the targeted quantification of tryptophan pathway metabolites in human milk, developing and validating UHPLC-MS/MS methods for a chemically diverse set of compounds in a challenging, lipid-rich matrix, with relevance to early-life nutrition and gut microbial metabolism. Previously I led targeted metabolomics for biomarker discovery in biofluids from patients with multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease, in close collaboration with clinicians.
My work spans the full analytical chain: sample preparation of complex matrices, method development and validation, independent operation and troubleshooting of UHPLC-HRMS and triple quadrupole systems, and data processing in MZmine, SIRIUS, GNPS. My background also includes natural products chemistry and pharmaceutical analysis, with a PhD centred on synthesis, purification and structure elucidation by HPLC, MS and NMR.
