Extended description
(PNRR) The Ministry of Culture has approved the project presented by Castello del Buonconsiglio which will see the construction of the park and historic gardens that once occupied the eastern part of Thun Castle. The project envisages two areas of enhancement of the environmental context in which Castel Thun is inserted. Namely the forest of medieval origin and the paths surrounding the castle, and the restoration of the historic vegetable gardens near the walls. With the collaboration of FEM and some renowned fruit and vegetable consortia of the area, ancient trees and horticultural productions will be re-integrated within the castle’s landscape. The involvement of local economic and social realities is envisaged, which will be invited to promote their locally produced organic products on the occasion of specific events that will embrace culture and eno-gastronomy. Two 17th Century recipe books from the Thun family will also be published to testify to the importance of domestic vegetable gardens in the context of aristocratic residences.
The stability of the trees currently present around the Castle will be evaluated, as well as proceeding with their mapping in GIS. The collected data will then be made digitally available through GIS technologies for web and mobile applications with integrated and geo-referenced software.
Thanks to new in-depth contents dedicated to horticultural crops, medicinal herbs, fruit growing and plant essences present at the Castle, the information and educational material will be expanded.
Expected results
Pollen monitoring at a cultural site of great national interest and support in the creation and recovery of historic vegetable gardens and orchards, suitable both for dissemination activities but also for the realization of food culture interventions.
